This position works in our Quality Control Department.  Standard schedule is M-F 7:30 to 4 PM with flexibility based on business need.

 

We make NatureFlex and Cellophane packaging films.  These are biodegradable and compostable products to help reduce plastic pollution around the world!  Since they are made from renewable wood pulp as a raw material, we essentially make transparent paper.  Check out the process here.

 

Compostable packaging is a rapidly expanding market.  As a result, Futamura is in the process of a major expansion to keep up with the growing demand for our products.    We are looking for good people with a drive for advancement to come join our team.

Responsibilities

Our Quality Lab Analyst tests and conducts routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished product, using variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.

Duties include:

  • Providing process laboratory support for plant trials, ensure testing is carried out in a timely manner, feedback is given. Maintain an in-depth database of any plant trials and their outcomes.
  • Revises and updates standard operating procedures as needed. May perform special projects on analytical and instrument problem solving including instrument and process validation.
  • Cooperate with and assist technical group in relation to research and development of products and process improvement.
  • Performs analytical tests on samples, using instrumentation and equipment such as ovens and molds, and performs calculations to measure such factors as purity, particle size, and hardness, applying arithmetic formula.
  • Collects and records results of sampling and testing to maintain record of product quality. Participates in the development of testing methods.
  • Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents for plant personnel to conduct test.
  • Perform special projects on analytical and instrument problem solving in liaison with QC Supervisor.
  • Perform calibrations of lab instruments.
  • Ability to monitor and cooperate with personnel from other departments.
  • Create and maintain Quality Control trend analysis reports for specified criteria
  • Data Entry of all results into HP system and/or email to required departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related field
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a quality control function or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to think independently, while working within company structures and guidelines
  • History of teamwork and cooperation
  • Skilled in positions requiring attention to detail
