This position works in our Engineering and Maintenance Department. Standard schedule is M-F 7:30 to 4, with flexibility based on business need

 

We make NatureFlex and Cellophane packaging films.  These are biodegradable and compostable products to help reduce plastic pollution around the world!  Since they are made from renewable wood pulp as a raw material, we essentially make transparent paper.  Check out the process here.

 

Compostable packaging is a rapidly expanding market.  As a result, Futamura is in the process of a major expansion to keep up with the growing demand for our products.    We are looking for good people with a drive for advancement to come join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support one or more process areas working closely with Operations and Maintenance to ensure consistent product quality and process reliability.
  • Identify and implement process changes to improve safety, productivity, quality and waste reduction.
  • Participate in and/or lead PHA studies and investigate process and safety incidents.
  • Develop and/or update standard process conditions.
  • Monitor product quality, process conditions, and process efficiencies utilizing statistical techniques. Issue reports including data analysis, financial impact and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate process upsets and product quality issues.
  • Develop and/or update operating procedures and conduct training.
  • Lead or support trials for new or modified products or processes. Issue written reports of trial results.
  • Support major capital projects and manage smaller capital projects within budget and on schedule ensuring standards of safety, regulatory compliance, operability and reliability are met.
  • Develop and implement MOCs for process changes; update documentation including P&IDs, PFDs and procedures.
  • Identify, develop, and justify large capital projects along with implementation of small capital projects
  • Assist with project commissioning.
  • Lead and participate in PSSR reviews.
  • Specify and size process equipment and piping.
  • Assist in developing equipment and piping standards.
  • Be recognized both internally and externally as an expert in area(s) of expertise
  • Follows all environmental and safety regulations, related to the business sector, and acts in compliance with all U.S. laws

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering
  • 3 – 5+ years process chemical plant experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting process upsets and ability to analyse process information using statistical methods. Six Sigma certification and MiniTab expertise desired.
  • Strong safety attitude and promotes safe work practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in OSHA PSM preferred.
  • Experience with SAP software preferred.
