    Starting wage is $16.00.  Based on our schedule, which includes 8 hours of overtime per pay period, your average hourly rate is $16.76 per hour worked. 

    Raises are determined by how quickly you learn and show proficiency.  The right candidates can apply themselves and progress by almost $2 per hour within the first year, with continued opportunities for raises and promotions!!

    This position works in our Finishing Department. 

     

    We make NatureFlex and Cellophane packaging films.  These are biodegradable and compostable products to help reduce plastic pollution around the world!  Since they are made from renewal wood pulp as a raw material, we essentially make transparent paper.  Join us and we will show you how.

     

    Compostable packaging is a rapidly expanding market.  As a result Futamura is in the process of a major expansion with plans to increase our production by 50% in 2020.    We are looking for good people with a drive for advancement to come join our team.

    Responsibilities

    The Finishing Machine Operator sets up and operates a manual slitter and/or automatic slitter machine to slit mill rolls of Cellophane to customer specifications.

    Duties include:

    • Review work orders to determine finished roll specifications.
    • Perform set-ups on equipment by changing settings, rollers, gears, blades, and rolls
    • Perform quality checks, testing on product and accurately document readings
    • Diagnose problems on equipment and correct immediately to keep production flowing
    • Understanding the tension of materials. i.e. tension settings, widths, gauges.
    • Maintain safety, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance programs
    • Ensure finishing equipment is working correctly, troubleshoot, perform safety inspections and complete required documentation, and initiate work orders for repairs
    • Read tape measure, machine measurements, gauges, and meters
    • Maintain quality of finished product and inspect finished rolls
    • Record output results on required documents and/or into computer
    • Perform yardage checks, record results, and set slitter yardage counter
    • Maintain manual and/or electronic production records
    • Perform equipment change-over and splices
    • Communicate any equipment or product problems and maintenance issues to upcoming shift

    Qualifications

    Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

    • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
    • Demonstrated focus and attention to safety
    • Good attendance and attitude
    • Excellent communication skills
    • The ability to think independently, while working within company structures and guidelines
    • Lifting of up to 50 pounds regularly
